CyberCon Melbourne 2025

🚨 Reflections from the Frontline of Cyber Leadership – CyberCon Melbourne 2025 🚨

Just wrapped up an incredible few days at hashtag#CyberConMelbourne, where the conversations were bold, urgent, and deeply human.

From a national lens, National Cyber Security Coordinator - Lt Gen. Michelle McGuinness delivered a powerful reminder: our safety must span both the physical and digital realms. Her call for cyber practices to be distinctive and instinctive struck a chord — as did her vision for Australia to lead globally in cyber. The message was clear: cyber security is no longer optional — it’s hashtag#essential.

Another standout was Theresa Payton, who reminded us that the internet never sleeps — and neither do cyber threats. With 2.59 million attacks every minute, her advice was sharp and timely: don’t outsource your future. Keep your strategic capabilities close, and let go of legacy systems that no longer serve.

From discussions on spy-enabled vehicles to strategies for creating a hostile internet for child abuse material, the conference was a powerful reminder of why we do what we do. At CyberWest Hub, our mission remains clear: to push boundaries, foster collaboration, and drive evidence-based action for a safer digital future.

💥 Special shoutout to the WA team for making this CyberCon a truly memorable one. Your energy, dedication, and presence helped bring the WA perspective to life on a national stage — and it didn’t go unnoticed.

CyberCon wasn’t just a conference — it was a call to action. Let’s keep the momentum going. 💬
