Students of Cyber (SoC) October Event with RSM Australia

Empowering Future Cyber Leaders: Students of Cyber October Series with RSM Australia

As part of Cyber Awareness Month, we were honoured to host our Students of Cyber (SoC) October series, delivered in partnership with RSM Australia. This initiative reflects our commitment to building pathways for the next generation of cyber professionals by connecting students with industry leaders and real-world insights.

The session opened with Bavani Chetty, Senior Manager at RSM, who provided a compelling overview of RSM’s role and impact in the cyber security space — from risk management to resilience strategies that safeguard businesses in an increasingly digital world.

Students then had the privilege of hearing inspiring career journeys from the RSM team:

  • Kaylan Naicker

  • Joel Vermeulen

  • Suné Skinner

  • Dale Carter

Each shared their unique experiences and perspectives, offering students a practical look into the diverse and rewarding pathways available in cyber security. From technical expertise to advisory roles, these stories highlighted the breadth of opportunities and the importance of adaptability, continuous learning, and collaboration in shaping a successful career.

At CyberWest Hub, we believe that creating these connections is vital to fostering an inclusive and future-ready cyber workforce. A huge thank you to RSM Australia for partnering with us and to the speakers for their generosity in sharing knowledge and inspiring the next generation.

Together, we’re building a stronger, more resilient cyber ecosystem — one conversation at a time.
