CyberConnect August Event with Creative Tech Village (CTV)
🔒🎮 CyberConnect: Exploring Cyber Security in Gaming 🎮🔒
Last Tuesday, CyberWest Hub hosted another engaging CyberConnect session in collaboration with our sister innovation hub , Creative Tech Village. We dive deep into the intersection of cybersecurity and gaming—a space that’s rapidly evolving and increasingly relevant.
We explored questions that sparked thoughtful dialogue across technical, ethical, and social dimensions:
💬 How do cyber threats impact gamers?
From social engineering and scams to ethical dilemmas in competitive environments, participants shared real-world experiences and strategies for navigating these challenges.
🛡️ What technical solutions protect players and data?
We discussed encryption, multi-factor authentication, and anti-cheat systems—along with their pros and cons in maintaining both security and seamless gameplay.
⚠️ Where are the gaps—and how can we fix them?
Ideas flowed around improving detection software, adapting AI-driven threat models, and designing security tools tailored to gaming subcultures.
🌏 WA’s opportunity to lead in gaming cybersecurity
With our growing innovation ecosystem, WA has the potential to become a hub for specialised cyber careers in gaming. By fostering collaboration between industry, education, and government, we can build pathways for hashtag#CreativeTalent and hashtag#Innovation.
Huge thanks to everyone who joined the conversation and contributed their insights. Special shout-out to Mat Lewis, Michelle Wong and the team at CTV for making the trip up from Bunbury for such an engaging session! CyberConnect remains a space for bold ideas and collaborative problem-solving.
Let’s keep pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in cybersecurity. 🚀
