National AI & Cybersecurity Leadership Summit
Exploring Trust in the Age of AI
What an incredible day at the National AI & Cybersecurity Leadership Summit, hosted by For Purpose Leaders and Dev Singh AUS! The event brought together a diverse audience of innovators, leaders, and curious minds eager to explore the security implications of AI adoption across sectors.
Our CyberWest Hub Industry Advisory Board Member, Peter Bouhlas, opened the first panel with powerful insights on how AI enables his team to focus on the most severe threats among the 20,000 attacks WA Government agencies face every week — reinforcing that cyber security is not just a safeguard but a critical enabler of AI innovation.
The second panel tackled the legal and ethical dimensions of AI governance, emphasizing the need for transparency in how AI models use data and the importance of setting appropriate limitations for users to ensure trust and compliance.
Seva Mozhaev reminded us of the creativity required to stay relevant in the AI era — and avoid falling into the trap of “AI LinkedIn Slop.”
Helen McLeish courageously stepped out of her comfort zone to share her perspective on cyber skills and leadership, underscoring the urgency of diversity with only 17% of women currently in the cyber workforce — a true call to action to #SeeHerBeHer.
Finally, Michele Clement (Edith Cowan University) closed the day by connecting leadership to the complex geopolitical environment shaping industry decisions and its impact on Australian sovereignty.
This summit was an excellent example of how collaboration and dialogue drive clarity and confidence in navigating AI adoption. With a stunning backdrop and a room full of fresh perspectives, the message was clear: AI and security conversations must go hand in hand.
Here’s to more opportunities to bring these critical discussions to the forefront as we shape a secure, innovative future.
