Scam and Scones: Tea, Tips, and Tech Safety
On Tuesday, 22 July, the Mannings Senior Citizen Centre hosted a highly successful 'Scam and Scones ' event, a testament to the community's active participation and the organizers' dedication. The event, which welcomed 48 attendees for an afternoon of learning, conversation, and community connection, was proudly delivered by CyberWest Hub. Expert trainer Caitriona Forde led an engaging and informative discussion on how to identify and avoid common scams targeting seniors, further adding to the event's success.
The active participation of the community members, who benefited from Caitriona's practical advice and real-world examples, was a key highlight of the event. They were encouraged to ask questions and share their own experiences, fostering a sense of involvement and shared learning. The relaxed setting, complete with freshly baked scones and tea, further enhanced the welcoming environment for open dialogue.
A special thanks goes to our dedicated student volunteers, Felipe and Christine, who generously gave their time to assist participants with their queries throughout the session. Their support was greatly appreciated and contributed to the event's success.
The strong turnout and enthusiastic engagement highlighted the importance of ongoing digital safety education for our senior community.
