Last Friday, we had the privilege of co-hosting the CyberQueens event at North Metropolitan TAFE in collaboration with CyberWest Hub and Students of Cyber (SoC) by CyberWest Hub. The event brought together an inspiring mix of women and non-binary cyber students from across various institutions and cyber industry, united by a shared passion for cybersecurity and community.

This relaxed yet purposeful gathering is more than a toast—it’s an opportunity to reflect on the milestones we’ve achieved together, strengthen connections, and set our sights on the next wave of innovation and resilience.

On Tuesday, 22 July, the Mannings Senior Citizen Centre hosted a highly successful 'Scam and Scones ' event, a testament to the community's active participation and the organizers' dedication. The event, which welcomed 48 attendees for an afternoon of learning, conversation, and community connection, was proudly delivered by CyberWest Hub. Expert trainer Caitriona Forde led an engaging and informative discussion on how to identify and avoid common scams targeting seniors, further adding to the event's success.

David and Josh kicked things off by sharing valuable market insights and practical advice on cyber career readiness. He also gave students a deeper understanding of Focus Networks—highlighting how their client-centric approach, tailored solutions, and commitment to innovation help them deliver meaningful impact in a rapidly evolving industry.

CyberWest Summit 2025: Where Strategy Meets Innovation

It’s been one week since CWS2025 — and the momentum is still going strong. Over two transformative days, we didn’t just discuss the future of cybersecurity — we helped shape it.

With more than 400 passionate attendees, including international delegates from the Philippines and India, this year’s summit brought together a powerful cross-section of leaders from government, industry, academia, and startups. United by a shared mission: to future-proof our business and secure our digital future.

We were thrilled to welcome Jesse Gane from Adisyn (ASX:AI1) who delivered an engaging and through provoking session that left a lasting impression.

Jesse brought a wealth of industry insight, sharing his journey through the cybersecurity landscape and offering practical advice for students and early-career professionals. His talk sparked lively discussion, constant Q&A, and moments of real reflection among attendees. Students were eager to explore pathways into cyber and how to navigate them with purpose.

CyberWest Hub was proud to support the Business News Security and Resilience Sector Briefing this week, exploring this topic with the business community. The panel discussion was insightful, exploring the geopolitical context of cyber risk, as well as highlighting that most cybercrime is opportunistic - basic security measures are critical.

We had an incredible session at Students of Cyber (SoC) April event hosted by PwC Australia. A big shout-out to Duncan Alderson and his ever-so-generous team for sharing their invaluable insights and experiences with our student cohort.

What an incredible afternoon at our very first CyberQueens event! Co-hosted by CyberWest Hub, Students of Cyber (SoC) by CyberWest Hub, and North Metropolitan TAFE, the session was brimming with inspiration as students across different universities and TAFE came together and engaged with cyber industry professionals. A heartfelt shoutout to all the industry partners who attended and made this event a success!

We had an incredible time at our special event with CyberCX, welcoming new faces and reconnecting with our amazing community.

CyberWest Hub have launched Scams and Scones, a cyber awareness program designed for vulnerable communities.   

What a great start to the year. Thanks to everyone who joined for our first Students of Cyber. It was lovely to welcome some new attendees and catchup with all our regular community too.

Pillar II of AUKUS has the potential to be transformative for Australia’s defence sector. When stripped down to its impact on Australian organisations, Pillar II will improve the cyber hygiene of every business participating in a defence contract, at every point of the supply chain.

That means cyber security is no longer an optional process for businesses, its a basic requirement.
